Lens adapter needed for Sigma KIII 75-210 for K-30 ?

Hi,
I recently purchase a Sigma KIII 1. 3.5-4.5 75-210 lens for my Pentax K-30 after doing a good bit of research and coming to the conclusion that it would work with an pentax k mount camera. However, when I tried to put on the lens it doesn't fit quite all the way on. I don't want to possibly damage the k mount by forcing the lens on. Is there an adapter that would work with this lens ? Or will it work without an adapter and I just haven't turned the lens hard enough ?

Thanks,

Do you have an M42 to PK adapter?

Is it a screw mount or what mount does it have on it? Some of them were m42 and some had mounts made for different mounts. it should give you the mount info on it or post a pic of the mount so we can tell

What mount is the Sigma for? If it is for a K-mount it could be the protective flange for the aperture stop-down lever is too big. Photos would help.

Sorry, I am working on uploading photos at the moment. In regards to what mount the Sigma is for I am not sure.

The seller was not able to indicate the mount, but comparing my lens to various other pictures I think it might be a Nikon mount.

I'm not sure but I suspect that is a Nikon mount. There are usually some sort of markings on the mount that indicate what mount they are for. Pentax is typically something like P/K or PKA/R PK/R

You might be able to mount it "upside down"

Yep That's a Nikon Lens, Probably an AIS, hard to tell from the photo. Good news is you can get a Nikon to PK adapter. If you do get one with the focal glass or you wont be able to focus to infinity.

Here are the only clear markings on the lens.

Click on the link I have on my previous post.. That one has the focal glass.. B&H has one for 39.99 but I can't tell if it has the focal glass or not and it doesn't mention it.

Might be simpler to see if you can return the lens for your money back and buying a lens that has a Pentax mount.

I agree with that, adding an adapter can degrade the quality of the image depending on the lens. if you buy one to add to a low quality lens to begin with you are throwing your money away. If it were a Nikkor lens then it might be worth it. What I suggest is if you want to buy lenses for your camera check the gear data base on here it has a lot of useful information.
