Pentax FA* 28-70mm at B&H

In case anyone is interested, B&H has one, used of course, for $1099.99.

Get the Tamron 28-75. It is almost as good, has that Pentax "feel" to the images, and is 1/3 the price.

I'm with Roscot on this. The only real difference between them is the bokeh on the Pentax is slightly smoother. As for sharpness and overall IQ the two are equals. (I knew a guy who had a Pentax and made the comparison against the Tamron. He sold his Pentax and bought a Tamron after that.

Plus the Tamron is much lightler and doesn't have the power zoom which has caused some owners issues on this model.

I have owned the Tamron 28-75 and currently own the FA* 28-70 and I also agree that the Tamron is an exceptional lens. But I sold the Tamron after I got the FA* because I thought the Tamron was a little too contrasty when compared to the Pentax. That is, for areas that are in focus, the Pentax still has a creamy, slightly ethereal look while the Tamron images have a crisp snap to them.
