Although both pics are very sharp, I'd have to give the nod to the Sigma. It looks a tad sharper and a bit brighter. That makes me sad since I own the FA 43

Do you find yourself using the Sigma more and more over the FA 43 even though the focal length is different? I wonder if 8mm makes much of a difference in composing your shots.

I've been doing a series of experiments to determine how much of a change in FL is really required to change the overall character of a shot. I find that it's about a ratio of 1.4. Pentax seems to agree, which is why they make the 15/21 and the 35/50/70. The step from 21 to 35 is a bit long, but they have the 31 which is just a touch more than 1.4* 21mm. It seems that the 1.4 ratio is sort of built in to many of the lens sequences.

42/35 ~1.2, so I'd expect that an extremely careful analysis could point out the differences, but in the absence of a reference, the essential character of the shot wouldn't be much different.

i like both sigma and pentax lenses, they are brilliant both and the difference caused by focal lenght can be observed in perspective of object i was shooting

Both are so sharp that I can't tell any differences that matter.
Maybe some DOF differences here and there too.

One is a handy pandy small lens, the other is a beer mug.
Boils down to user preference of focal length, build quality and size really.

The 43ltd is incredible on FF, btw

Strange...I found that FA43 is a bit sharper, but different point of focus and DOF and focal range

I know this is an old thread but is there any chance you could post a couple wide open shots for comparison.
