Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8

Howdy,
Has anyone have experience with the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 on a K-r of similar DSLR. ???
Considering it for my K-r rather than equ. primes ..
Should let you know that I may also purchase a new K-3 this coimg year.

Thanks any help / thoughts would be appreciated

Would also help if you described what you are looking for - focus performance? sharpness? handling?

The reporst I've seen show it is as sharp as a bag of primes, great wide open, fast focusing, but big.

The tests so far are very positive. The AF performance seems to be better on Nikon bodies than Canon according to the reviews I have read. When the focus is right, it's razor sharp. Any zoom lens that is f/1.8 throughout the whole zoom range is going to be big. No way around it. It's a lens I'm interested in when it comes out in K mount.

I read somewhere that this lens qualifies for the mount exchange program from Sigma: buy it in another mount and you can ship it now to Sigma(I THINK it's 200$) to change the mount to Pentax. For the impatient, that might be an option.

From what I understand, that only applies for lenses that are currently sold with that mount.
For example, with the 120-300mm f2.8, it is only available for canon, sigma and nikon mounts. So if you sold your canon and bought a nikon, they will switch mounts for you. But you cant switch from canon to pentax, because it wasnt available for pentax.
