Just curious but I don't understand the f2 requirement, considering there's effectively no financial advantage to a 50/2 vs. a slightly better/faster lens. And why not an A lens vs. K/M? It seems like she's already handicapped enough by not having a viewfinder.

Sounds like you know exactly what you need. The M50/F2 is the easiest to find in good shape at a good price. It looks nice, handles well like the 1.7, has good coating, and makes fine pictures when stopped down a bit. Sure when wide open it goes soft and vignettes at lot, but all lenses do that to some extent. If it is for a learning experience then this lens will demonstrate that effect perfectly.

I should know better than to mention this but the M50/F2 at landscape apertures is sharp to the edges where the M50/F1.7 isn't.

I love my M50 f/2. I do want to try some other 50s, but I think it'd be a perfect lens for what you're describing

I had an A50 f/2 and loved it....Until I tried another prime, then I gave it away for nothing. If she's just starting out, get her the A so she can adjust aperture in the camera and still get flash automation.

Thanks Billy Joe, my sister's kinda clumsy, so im thinking of giving her a "budget" 50 f2 so just in case she'll broke it, its ok. $50-60 tops.
I cant have her any of my treasured (well-cared) lens, like i said, she's kinda clumsy. If she gets good at handling things in this hobby, still, i wont let her borrow my lens
i rather buy her a new one

How much for your A50 f2?
Where does she live? You pay the shipping and I will send it to her.

It is a mighty clean copy of this lens... I bought it for 25 bucks... But never really used it. Lets give it a good home
