Hoods for DA L 55-18 WR and DA L 50-200 WR

I am usually pretty good at doing product research, but in this case I came up dry (well, actually semi-dry). My friend recently got a killer deal on a K-50 kit that included the new WR versions of the DA L 55-18 and DA L 50-200 kit lenses (gray band). As many of you know, Pentax does not ship hoods with the DA L series lenses. It was my plan to get the hoods for my friend as a gift, but am having trouble determining which hoods to buy. Pentax does not publish the specs for the DA L lenses. Based on the specs listed on this site along with the specs for the WR (non-L) versions of these lenses, I believe that the 18-55 should take the PH-RBC hood (same as the non-L, WR lens). The problem comes with the 50-200. The spec on this site says PH-RBB (same as the previous non-WR lens) while the non-L WR 50-200 take the PH-RBD.

Has anyone made a successful purchase of the appropriate Pentax-brand hoods for these two lenses? If so, what hood(s) did you get?

Steve, just saw a post earlier where somone reported getting a hood for Da 18-55 and saying it would not fit on the WR version. Not sure if they got the facts straight but you might want check. On my tablet or i would post the link.

I think title was `hoodwinked`.

jatrax...You are correct. Excellent memory. It was a rant posted today* by a guess user. He ended up buying a 3rd-party hood for his lens. I am looking for the Pentax-branded hood.

Thanks for the reference. I did a search before starting this thread, but that one did not come up. Apparently Adam's fix for the 50-200 did not take properly. He changed it to "PH-RBB 49mm". The PH-RBB is 52mm size.

Okay, I recently got a K-50 and it happened to have the 18-55 kit lens with it. According to a piece of paper included in the box, you should be looking for the PH-RBC, in 52mm

Thanks! That is what I thought. I went ahead and ordered it and the PH-RBD (49mm) for the 50-200 and we will see whether they both fit.
