Probably t-mount. M42 is 42x1mm t-mount is 42x.75mm thread. You will need an adapter to make it work. Get t-mount to k-mount no need for m42 in this case.

To the best of my knowledge, Tamron never produced a 500mm T2-mount prime lens. In fact, the only 500 mm prime lenses from Tamron that I know of are their Adaptall-2 mount mirror lenses (model 55B and 55BB).

So, may I suggest that you give us more information about brand and model number, such as you may read it directly on the lens itself.

what do you mean, your lens is from pre Adaptall time and need T mount adapter?
I have probably more than dozen Adaptall and Adaptall2 lenses and they all have very different base.
Have a look at:
adaptall-2.org
you might be able to find some info about your lens, but I thing that your lans comes from late 50ties so might not be there.
the longest tele with T mount I can see there is 450mm:
Google Translate
anyway have a look.......

How about posting a photo of your lens to give us a hand with identifying the lens and its mount?
