Teleconverter for Tokina A-FX 100/300 F4 Lens

I just purchased a Tokina AT-X SD 100/300 F4 zoom lens from a fellow forum member and couldn't be happier. Razor Sharp at 5.6 to 8.0 at all focal lengths. Do I want a teleconverter for this lens? I do not want to give up sharpness. I've seen a Tokina RMC 2X teleconverter on flea bay for $25. Am I wasting my money if I purchase it?

Most likely. I do not believe RMC is of the same quality as AT-X lenses which have a good reputation.

Still looking for a recommendation for a teleconverter for this very nice lens.

Lens is a Tokina AT-X F4 100-300....not A-FX as posted in Thread. My dyslexia apparently kicked in.....

I have that lens...built like a tank and you're right, very sharp.
However, when I put on the Kenko 1.5TC, which really doesnt degrade IQ hardly at all on other lenses, seems to really soften up the IQ when i put it on this Tokina.
Maybe it is poor technique, which may be an issue since we are talking about 675mm eq on 35mm. With that length, technique really needs to be spot on.

Soooo, inconclusive. I will let you know when I get a true representation of this combo's performance.

The Kenko 1.5pz teleplus is a decent one, or its twin Tamron 1.4 . Both will run in the 150 bucks range even used though.

Thanks for the info. I'll wait for your testing before I make the purchase.
