Amazon has the 12-24mm in stock through 17th Street Photo. That's where I bought mine 2 weeks ago, and they ARE showing in stock as of right now. Have you considered waiting for just 3 weeks and seeing what Pentax announces at PMA? The 50-135/f2.8 and/or 60-250/f4.0 MIGHT fit the screaming, ragged edges of your budget and they are supposed to be available sometime in March. Another possibility is the 16-45mm/f4 OR the new 16-50mm/f2.8 (also due next month). I have the 16-45mm/f4 as well and personally think it is slightly better suited to architecture than the 12-24.

I checked B&H shortly after reading the last post here. They were out of stock, but offered a check box for e-mail notification of new stock arriving. I got that message last Thursday and ordered it. I should receive the lens Tuesday if we do not get too much snow.

You were fortunate. In my experience the b&h's e-mail notifications are often late. Most times the lenses are sold out before I get the e-mail notice. I have to keep my eye on the site to have first cracks at some lenses.
