Diamond in the rough...

I have been getting really frustrated lately with my tamron 28-300 tried different settings etc and just wasn't liking the results. So I pulled out the Pentax 70-210 that my wife stumbled across and I like the results so much better... Now keep in my first day out with it and really just fooled around with different modes and settings...

Good for you.

The old 70-210 screwdrive is a loud beast that can take great pictures.

I love mine.

Wherever that water is I want to go find it.

I did like my Tamron 28-300 for the flexibility it offered, but I found the IQ to be lacking when stacked against some other lenses I had, which is why I sold it. I only have my Takumat F 70-210 because looking at what they sell for made me decide that it isn't worth selling. Maybe I should play with it some.

Me too! That's a pretty little rapids fall. I like the first shot of it the best.

My issues were more focusing issues and a lot of blurring due to movement...

As long as you like the results, that's all that really matters.

I had the A 70-210 f/4, a heavy beast with terrible zoom creep, but it was great! I only sold it when I upgraded to a DA* 50-135, but I kinda regretted it and kinda still do...
Some of my very first images were taken with it...

If you're picky like me, it'll be hard to get nice results with the 28-300 - even if everything goes right.

OTOH, I like the F70-210, and I like what I've seen from the A70-210 as well.

Which of the many 70-210s are you using now?

Some of the Pentax models don't have a hood bayonet, which is irritating if you have to reverse the hood for storage. Of course, the act of having to reverse the hood itself is irritating, but it's less irritating with a bayonet, at least until the bayonet wears out.

It's the F70-210 everyone on the forum said it was the good one...
