So many 50mm AF lenses FS in PF Marketplace?

This makes me wonder if even the diehard loyalists are starting to give up on ever getting a Pentax full frame DSLR...

Interesting thought, but I wouldn't worry about it. The lens market is very fickle. And if Pentax ever does release a FF, it will probably release another FF 50mm.
And as far as I know, Pentax still has in production three 50mm lenses: DA 50mm macro, DA 50mm f1.8, FA 50mm f1.4
So maybe people are selling old 50mm lenses to buy new lenses - 50mm or another focal length (since 50mm on crop camera isn't quite as "normal")

I think a more likely reason is 50s are incredibly common. Most of us have several, some of us have many, and every once in awhile, people think to themselves, "do I really need 9 different 50mm's?" and sell some off. I'm not a big fan of 50mm POV on APS-C, and even I have 4 different 50's, but none of them autofocus. I'll probably add an autofocus sometime in the future, then later realize I still only ever use my Helios and Takumars, and sell it in "barely used" condition.

I don't think it has anything to do with FF.

My opinion
1) there are a lot of 50's for sale because they are the most common focal length
2) people are likely buying the new DA50f1.8 (or getting it bundled with a K-3) and selling their F/FA 50 since it is worth more than the DA

I think one factor is the resale market value. The AF variants' market values have increased in the past few years as the MSRP of the FA 50/1.4 has increased from about $210 USD to over $450, and the used market price for a good F 50/1.7 has about doubled in the last 8 years. The DA 50/1.8 has recently been bundled with the K-3 for free from B&H.

In contrast, the market value for the MF 50s has been pretty stable over time. They are very common, since 50mm was the "kit" lens for decades for film bodies. The exceptions are, of course, the dedicated macros and the f1.2 variants.
