I think the 8-16 is an itch I'll scratch at some point. It probably won't see a load of use, but I'm keen to give it a try. I do generally favor zooms, but genrally always have my 15mm along just in case!
You can't go wrong with the DA 15 in the bag. The 8-16mm is good in museums and where you want that really wide shot.

Most used are the 77 and 200, followed by the 31, 43 and 300. The 50 and 28-105 haven't seen much use.
Hey Gordon - you have a small but very nice list of lenses in the arsenal. That's all that matters.

Glad to hear that you did a recount. Are you happy with the number or would you like more?

Seriously, only 2 lenses, that's some serious restraint.

I have 3 that I've never even attempted to use on a digital camera. Those are the M 50/2 that was a kit lens for the ME Super, a Tokina A 28-70 that I got as an upgrade, and a Tamron A 28 that I picked up in a moment of weakness from Ebay.
There's the FA 50/1.4 that has never been sharp enough to be worth using. There's the Tamron 70-200/2.8 that can't do consistent AF. There's the FA 50 macro that is wonderful but hasn't seen any action since I got the DFA 100 macro.
I have 2 copies of the 18-55 because I thought I'd lost the first one. Three if you count the kit lens that came with my *ist-DS. I have 2 copies of the 55-300 because B&H had a sale that I couldn't resist.
I have an F 70-210 and DFA 100 that were rendered unusable through accidents, both replaced. But the 70-210 is only for nostalgia, I don't use it anymore.
I have a Tamron 70-300 that I don't use anymore because the 55-300 mostly supersedes it.
Excluding the ones mentioned above, that leaves:
DA 15
Sigma 17-50/2.8
DA 18-55
DA 18-135
Sigma 18-300
Tamron 24-135
DA 35 macro
DA 40 pancake
DA 55-300
DFA 100
A 400
The biggest problem I have is deciding which lenses to take with and which ones to leave behind.
Mark - you sure like your doubles don't you? The lens count counts them all. We all have our times of less restraint than others.

And I have an old Cimko 35-100mm F3.5-4.5 with what I assume is a broken aperture lever.
In general, the shorter kit lens hardly ever got used since I got the DA 35 and the F 35-70 (that little guy was great when I went to India last year).
The Helios is lovely but I'm too lazy to run manual lenses much.
Right now I'm on vacation with just the brand new 16-85 and the DA 50 for low light, and not finding I'm missing anything tbh.
Varky - it's always nice to use new lenses so have fun with it.

Originally posted by ivanvernon I have over 100 Pentax and Pentax compatible lenses, some which came in with cameras bought off the internet, others purposely purchased. I think this thread could be made more interesting by asking not how many lenses you have, but how many great lenses you have. Since I am making the proposal, I will start out by culling through my collection and identifying the great ones.
Lenses for full-frame and crop sensor cameras. All are Pentax unless otherwise identified:
FA 31
FA 43
FA 77
FA* 85/1.4
Kiron 105/2.8 1:1 macro
Tokina 90/2.5 1:2 macro
Canon-FD 55/1.2 converted to Pentax
There are about 50 other lenses for full-frame/crop sensor, some that are excellent, quite good, good, and quite acceptable, and only 3-4 that are poor but still useable.
Lenses for medium format cameras:
645 FA 35/3.5
645 D FA 55/2.8
645 D FA 90/f 2.8 1:2 macro
645 FA* 300/4.0
645 FA 120/4.0 1:1 macro
67 105/2.4
67 55/4.0
CZJ Sonnar 180/2.8
There are maybe 25 other medium format Pentax medium format lenses, almost all of them in the excellent or quite good categories and really very few in the poor category.
OK, so I tally up and say that I have 15 great Pentax lenses and another 75 that are very much worth owning and using.
Ivan- good thread. It's true you could ask how many great lenses we have but what would the fun be in that as great is a subjective view for everyone, that's true. Glad to see that you have many great ones and other as well.
