Terrific, essential kit.

Interesting that you have kept the F35-70 in the company of the other ('better' or higher rated) lenses. Did you ever think about selling that one, and why did you keep it? (I have one also, and it gets a fair amount of use).

- Craig
Thanks. It's taken me a year and a half to get here. Several reasons to keep the F35-70
1) it's sharp as hell in good light. With a flash indoor pictures are sharp too.
2) I like the old style feel of the lens even though it is plastic.
3) it's a macro
4) the focal length is good
5) it cost me $39
6) I gotta use some sort of lens to take pics of my collection

Driline - you're down to 6 lenses? Wow,6 nice lenses though so one can understand, focusing more with the feet The F35-70 is a very underrated lens and a fisheye or the Sigma 10-20 is a nice wide angle lens.

I know this is an old thread, but interesting none-the-less. As time progresses our gear changes and so has mine. I'm now down to just 6 lenses. This picture was taken with my K5 and Pentax F35-70 macro. I'm thinking a "fisheye" lens should just about round out this small collection of glass.

I ended up selling My Tokina AT-X F4 100-300, DA 21 and DA 35 2.4 and acquired the F*300 and FA 31 in the process.

F*300
DA*50-135
DA*16-50
FA 31
FA 43
(Not pictured) Pentax F35-70

You'll end up selling the rest of those Canons to get more Pentax lenses. Check out this thread to see what people have picked up.

6 lenses... Should be doable. Of the ones I have now I would probably keep
DA 18-135 (holiday lens)
DA 55-300 (safari/hiking lens)
DA 15 (just need it)
FA 28 (the perfect normal lens)
FA 43 (of course)
DFA 100 (do I need a macro? Maybe not - but it's such a nice lens)

Nope, the F 35-70 wouldn't make it.

DA 14mm f2.8 - Super Wide
FA 20-35mm f4 - Wide/Normal/Walkaround
Voigtlander 90mm f3.5 APO - Portrait/Short Telephoto

I also have the Sigma DP3M which covers the 50mm for the moment, although a nice Voigtlander 58mm Nokton / Sigma 50mm f1.4 / Pentax FA 50mm f1.4 would do me I think.

I've always wanted to try the FA 28. Such a nice lens and a great focal length. I had the A 28 for awhile and really liked the IQ.

From what I have read the F 28 is the same optical formula as the A, while the FA is different (fewer elements, if I recall correctly). Some say the F is better than the FA - not sure what "better" is, though. If it is better it must be an amazing lens. Other than a slight softness at 2.8 there is not much to criticise the FA for. I would have a hard time choosing between the 28 and the 43 if I had to.

To stay sort of on-topic, I should update myself:

Last half of 2011: Added 4 = 6
2012: Added 7 = 13
2013: Added 6 = 19
First quarter of 2014: Added 3 = 22
Second quarter of 2014: Added 2 = 24
Well, and a Raynox 150 if that counts...

And a K-3, which will hopefully keep me away from the marketplaces for a while

I'm going to have a few weeks off now so maybe I'll get some more time to actually use those lenses.

Savoche - does this mean you have more than the 6 below still? The below list is a good list.

Savoche - I see this reading down, 24 to 6 is going to take some work for you If the Fa 28 is as good as you say then it must be nice, I have the K 28 3.5 and it has fantastic IQ.

It's all in my sig. Trying to reduce the top line, increase the bottom line.

Some good lenses in the marketplace :-) Still need an EF 28 to work on both old-but-new-to-me bodies.

I have 21 lenses.

So I started doing my annual year end purge and decided to count up how many lenses I have on my shelves. So after a year I have purchased over 39 lenses in 1 year! I still have 21 of them. I think I'm over my LBA as I think I'd like to sell some more of my lenses but I've enjoyed shooting with all of them to date.

How many do all of you have and do you think I'm crazy to have as many lenses as I do
Some of you folks make me feel that my life is a little more manageable than I thought since I have about 28...probably 20 acquired in the last year but that is still fewer than some folks. Watch the Marketplace. My shrink is trying to coax me into a 12 step LBA recovery program

We need to know your budget. Whether not you are willing to buy used etc. I've only purchased one brand new lens in about 12 that I have acquired over the past year and a half.

I collect but for the purpose of use - however it is hard to choose which one to use - sometimes I feel immobilised by the choice

That's okay. LBA will strike soon and then you'll be perusing the Marketplace, KEH, and eekBay looking for that elusive lens that you just have to have!
