oscaletrains - that's quite the mixed collection of AF, MF, TC's you have here. Question is how many cameras do you have to go with these?

Lowell Goudge - yes insurance, that's a good idea of keeping a spreadsheet of lenses, cameras, and expensive accessories. So how long did it take you to get to 60 lenses is the question. I got scared last year when I had acquired over 30 in one year! I had to sell some or a lot, lol.
Originally posted by Lowell Goudge I keep a list, in roadmap format of lenses and focal lengths. I do this to identify holes in my line up. I have lots of holes if you define a hole as 0.5-1.0mm in focal length. Very few if you consider actual focal lengths manufactured.
I also have a list fully maintained of serial numbers. I didn't do this out of a desire to track everything, but when I did a relocation to France, I had to provide an inventory. For the mover's insurance, I just kept it up to date when I returned home.
My lens collection, now approaching 60 considering things for the Q, gets some consistent use, my three main zooms for example, and then, at random, I take 3-4 legacy lenses out of the collection and go play. I don't track what I used when, it is really based upon what do I feel like doing today

mattb123 - Matt, that would be the logical and reasonable way of acquiring and keeping lenses but do you ever sell them or do you keep them all?
Originally posted by mattb123 The way I identify holes in my lineup is to go out shooting. If I can't get the shot I envision because I don't have the right lens then I add that lens to my wish list.
But I'm not trying to be a collector, I just want the lenses I need to get the shots I want.

monochrome - spare parts don't count for purchasing lenses?
Originally posted by monochrome Bought two lenses this week - $18 K55/1.8 that will donate its appendage to the eunuched K35/2 and a better copy of the K135/2.5 +case and hood (actually, an exquisite copy). The product isn't any better but it sure looks good making them.
Net no change and I get to keep the adorable Sears 50/2 that goes with the KS.

Sagitta - you can always get the F35-70mm lens. It covers a lot of ground and see the reviews of what people say about them, they're just about as good a prime.
Originally posted by Sagitta I've gone in and looked at my zoom EXIF's to see what focal lengths I gravitate to.
I need to buy some primes around 35mm and 70mm at some point. Preferably small and portable.
Yes, I know what that entails, I just don't like the idea of actually spending more than $25 on lenses.

Definitely a bold plan. Hope it works out.
