The A100/2.8 Macro is / has become a bit of a cult lens due to its relative rarity as an optical design that only ran through one season. It has a very exposed rear element which can make it prone to sensor reflection. Saying that it can produce a very nice image

Tactile wise the focusing action is absolutely sublime.

I've never heard this before. Can you expand on this a little?

it's certainly priced that way, Robbie... I've been watching for one for a while now and the prices being asked are as much as the current DFA model....

and, according to our own review section, it does have a different scheme as far as elements/groups than the later F/FA/D FA 100/2.8 macro...

(goes looking harder for a decent-priced copy)

I just acquired my 20th 645 lens (an FA 35 mm f/3.5 AL). Now, I think I have enough ...

Regards

Unfortunately the Japanese are all over the board with pricing on this lens. I’ve seen several hundred dollars to $1,450. One reason I usually don’t often buy from Japan although I have on occasion.

Updates count now to 3. Sold off the Kalimar 50mm & the Vivitar 35mm.
Now up to 4: a Auto Sears 50mm f1.7 (M42), a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8, a Sigma EX DX f2.8 Macro, and recently a Tamron 90mm f2.8 Macro (272E model).

Having a "buyers remorse" with the Tamron 90mm though, even though it wasn't that much money (~$170 with taxes) & in good condition, thinking of just selling it as I dont know if I'm going to be using it that much to justify keeping it :/

Don’t ask how many...
The number increases constantly and my bookkeeping runs behind ...
Let’s say 5 modern for daily use, 5 mirror teles, some pentax-k and more pentax-m from wide to tele, about five 400..500mm tele’s and a bunch of macro and tele convertors...

I am happy i managed to reduce my lenses to 5:
DA21, FA35, FA43,DA70 and DA*200. I rarely wish for any other focal lenght. Maybe in future will add some nice Super Takumar 50 1.4 just to enjoy manual focus shooting with beautifully constructed lens. Gotta love Takumars

A simple spreadsheet will solve that for you. Just add them when you get them

P645 FA* 300 mm f/4 telephoto on a K3 III body. You can mount a P67, a P645 or any K lens to a modern Pentax DSLR. What more can you ask for ??
