3 Zooms, 1 Choice

A local shop has 3 manual zooms I'm interested in. All are in very good to excellent condition. I've looked at images from the 2 Pentax models, the Tokina is a tough one to get info on. Any opinions on the following lenses would be great.

Pentax M 80-200mm f/4.5
Pentax A 70-210mm f/4
Tokina 80-200mm f/4.5

TIA

Definitely the A70-210. Broader zoom range, a fraction faster, automatic aperture.

I would like you to get the two Pentax lens and give the other one to me.. ahaha..

Seriously I'll go with the A70-210 as SupremeMoFo said...
But still would like to have the other at a fair price

Go for the A 70-210. it is a very sharp lens with nice contrast and OOF rendering. It is obviously a bit bigger than current lenses, but sports a 4.0 aperture at all focal lengthes. I have retained that lens as a lightweight alternative, when my 2.8 zoom is too heavy and bulky. So it served very well during a China trip a year ago.

I have no personal experience with the other two lenses, but with regard to the Tokina I stumbled upon a user review just one or two days ago, which resumed, that this would be the worst lens, the user ever had the misfortune to use...

1 more choice... quick, before I leave to look at it ;)

Thanks for the info on the lenses, looks like the 70-210 f/4 is the winner.
However, a thread mount Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f/3.5 has surfaced at another location. I'll be looking at that one as well today. Any opinions on that would be helpful before I run out the door

The obvious advantage of the A 70-210 is that is an A lens, leaving all your metering woes out of the equation.

I forgot to mention the Tokina is an A lens as well. And yes, I'd like to take the metering equation out of a Zoom lens. I'm off to take a look now. Being a decent day I should have some photos later as well.

Thanks again Albert and everyone.
