is Vivitar Series 1 Pentax mount 28mm 1.9 safe to use?

I recently came into possession of a Pentax K1000 with a Vivitar Series 1 28mm 1.9 lens.

Both are in like new condition however, after looking up lens, found that this lens is radioactive.

Is it safe to use since it it says that lens gives off various forms of radioactivity?

thanks for info in advance

Yes. There are numerous threads on this topic, but the important thing is that they are safe.

The effect will be negligible. We are more likely to die from cholestrol fat and overconsumsion of sugar...

Should not be a problem. Many threads here discuss the issue, particularly for old Takumar lenses. See for example.

The mantles for Coleman lanterns are far more radioactive. So is the world famous water from Saratoga Springs as well as a sunny day at the beach. Nothing to worry about.
