Lens price hike in Europe?

Given the earlier price hike threads, this seems the appropriate sub-board. If not, I apologise.

At any rate, I was ready to get me a DA* 300 the coming weekend. Much to my dismay, all Dutch dealers seem to have raised the price the past week, with the last two following suit today! Aargh. And it's no mild hike either... the thing was priced between €920 and €989 at the local authorised dealers, but as of today they all have it advertised for €1299 or higher, i.e. >25% more expensive. It is the only Pentax lens I've been eyeing up for a while, so I don't know if other models have been affected as well (i.e., I don't know what their going rate was before), but dang...

Has anyone else noticed this? These days the Dutch market is serviced by Ricoh-Pentax France, I believe.

Pick up the phone and try to negotiate. The worst thing they can say is no and you don't buy the lens.

Ahh... the Greater Slovenian Technological Pricing Scheme is starting to take hold!
(i. e. it's been like that here for ages)

Don't see any hikes in any other country. Maybe it's the importer in Netherlands?

I haven't noticed anything, but then I have most of the lenses I want and can ever reasonably hope to afford, at least for now...

Prices tend to fluctuate in general. I agree that phoning can't hurt, tell them at the previous price you'll buy it today, but at the new one you won't. It'll be up to them to decide if they want the sale or not. But do it quickly and I think you'll have more leverage.

If they don't bargain, then I think you're back to the waiting game.

Yeah, I've noticed it's cheaper as soon as I look over the border, though the price in the UK also seems to have gone up. I don't suppose anyone from NL remembers the previous MSRP? I notice the dealers sell it for only marginally less than the official Ricoh webshop...

Hey, thanks for that! Even the 560mm no longer seems to be ridiculously priced there...

Hmm, haven`t noticed this because I`m preoccupied with other thing than photography lately but a quick search does reveal that not only the 300mm but all DA*`s had a price increase. In fact, it looks like most of the high-end lenses had an increase, the 12-24 is now €999 and the HD DA35mm ltd goes for a staggering €729,-....(I got my old DA35ltd in 2012 for €419,-)

I've noticed the same price increase here in the Netherlands. Weird thing is, it seems only related to Pentax lenses.

All I know is, negotiating sure won't work. What's to negotiate about brand new items?

EDIT: Deleted information on how I imported my last two lenses cheaply.
