flea bay japan

Has anyone ever ordered from a Japanese merchant? I can get the 100macro wr for $200+ cheaper than any US merchants flea bay or otherwise.

I know I have to pay separate customs, but am unsure how much that would be.

I ordered a Sigma SD1 via eBay from Japan recently (it was 33% cheaper, which is $750) and had no problems at all, but that is no guarantee as there are many, many merchants with varying levels of honesty in every country. Your biggest risk is that you don't get what you ordered... (ie: non-WR older 100 macro)

The most distinguishing factor with any overseas camera-related purchase is warranty, in case something goes wrong after eBay and Paypal waiting periods are over. You will get NO warranty coverage from Pentax USA on grey-market products, which is what this lens represents.

Sigma includes a "worldwide 1 year warranty" which is the same as their Canadian warranty for the SD1, so I didn't risk much there. Lenses are different, where we get a 10 year warranty for Sigma lenses purchased in Canada! Well worth the extra $$.

Yes, several times in the last year. Flawless transactions and delivery. Actually just got a Q7 from a Japanese supplier - perfect transaction.

Like the above, just recently bought from a Japanese seller and it was very straightforward - great price too.

I bought my Super Takumar 35mm from Japan. Also a couple Bronica pieces. All arrived a lot faster than expected, actually.

Well worth the money spent when its cheaper.

I found postage was very reasonable and like Fretless (no relation) the item arrive much faster than I anticipated.

Thanks for the great feedback. I actually found it at amazon for a bit cheaper and it will be here quicker. But will keep it in mind in the future. Several other lenses I'm in the market for.
