Confused by Pentax Lenses - Which ones are compatible with K-5?

Just purchased a Pentax K-5.
Can anyone tell me which lenses are compatible and will still autofocus?

Sorry for the newbie question.

The Pentax Camera Lens Compatibility Chart provides all the needed info. Lens types along the top
and it shows what capabilities each lens will have with each body. Bottom left is the legend....

Here's an easy list... Any DA, DAL, DA*, DFA, FA, FAJ and F Pentax lens will work with your K5 AND give you autofocus.

Any A lens will also work with your K5 but WON'T autofocus. Any M lens will work with your K5 but NO autofocus and NO auto aperture, limiting the operating mode of your camera.

Every K mount compatible lens will work (beware of some ricoh lenses) on your K5, all of them, but some with limitations...

For third party lenses (sigma, tamron, quantaray, takumar...), that's a whole other story, there are no easy way to know, check PF lens database for reference.

*** Note that the "AUTO" added to the name of most lenses (especially the older ones) means Auto-Aperture and NOT autofocus.

All current Pentax lenses have AF.

In our lens database, the "AF - screw" icon refers to traditional screwdrive autofocus, while the "AF - SDM" refers to the newer silent AF.

Since fgaudet mentioned some manual focus only lenses then I might as well throw in that any adapted lens, like a M42, that connects through an adapter ring or similar structure will not autofocus.
