I need your help!

I am looking for someone who knows these boards and what pentax lenses and equipment people are wanting. If someone could compile me a list of what he or she thinks the Pentax community would like to see being rented could you please email me at barry@cameralensrentals.com

I am then going to start a poll and base what we add to inventory on that. We are looking to add some more lenses and please feel free to add 3rd party lenses also.

I think a poll would be a better way with a big list of lenses, than to recieve 50 emails with different things and me have to piece them together.

So I will let you talk amongst yourselves and maybe you can delegate someone to compile me a list?

I would really appreciate this as we look forward to expanding our Pentax lineup to suit all your needs!

Thanks so much for your help in this!

Barry

Quick question. Is their any symbiosis to be had here? As a forum member and sharing this info, is it going to score members any discounts on rentals?

Just curious.

Barry,

I'm semi sponsored, plus a Canadian. So I don't think that I'll be using your service anytime soon.

However I think that your offering a good service. It's nice to see you on-board.

One thing that I'm hoping is that you'll take the time to test your lens before you send them out.
At least take the time to test any of the new Pentax 16-50 lenses, and any others that have quality control issues

It would just be nice for everyone that they could be assured quality. Which will hopefully bring you more business in the near future.

I think that expensive lenses will be easier to rent and some of them are hard to find. I am not going to expend the whole day on this but these are some that I think that some people (including me) would like to rent.

Pentax DA*16-50 f2.8 (test the copy first cos there are some quality control problems)
Tamron 17-50 f2.8 (the same problem)
Pentax DA*50-135 f2.8
Tamron 70-200 f2.8 (not released yet)
Sigma 70-200 f2.8 macro HSM (not released yet)
Sigma 180 f3.5 macro
Pentax DA*35 macro limited (is new)
Pentax DA*200 f2.8 (new)
Pentax DA*300 f4 (new)
Pentax FA*300 f2.8 (if you find it)
Pentax FA*200 f4 (if you find it)
Pentax FA31 limited
Pentax FA43 limited
Pentax FA77 limited
Pentax FA50 f2.8 macro
Pentax FA100 f2.8 macro.
Pentax SMC-M 28 shift (for people doing architecture)
Sigma 50-500 (bigma)
Sigma 100-300 f4 (if you find it)
Sigma 1.4x and 2x teleconverter
Kenko 1.5x and 2x teleconverter
Voigtlander 125 f2.5 macro (if you find it)

If you can find long telephotos FA400 or FA600 f4 would be nice but I dont know if it will be profitable

I think that 20-200mm fast lenses are useful for people shooting weedings or products assigments

The 28 shift would be nice for people shooting architecture and interiors.

Long and exotic lenses would be useful for ocassional shooters
Long and fast lenses would be useful for sport photojournalists... though I would be surprise if some of them use Pentax

Medium format lenses and cameras might be also interesting but I dont know if it would be profitable.

Of course each one of us will tell you something different

Hope it helps

Please keep it to lenses that, at the least, have been officially announced. Other than the two DA*s, those lenses are either already available or on the list. Also, please PM me with any items for the list. It just makes it bit easier for me.

You guys Rock!
We are working on getting some of the Super Teles. They are hard to find, but have had a few people steer me in the right direction!

Customs and shipping expense. Is not worth it to the customer.
From my office to the University of Alberta is
End of day (5 Business Days ) FedEx International Ground® 19.39

Thats one way.
Also this mess
"Important for Customs: To prevent delays, your shipment must have the following customs documents attached: Commercial Invoice, Certificate of Origin, Shipper's Export Declaration. Additional clearance documents may also be required. "

Hi Barry,

Glad to see your poll here. Personally, I want to try these out:

F*/FA* 300/2.8
DA* 200/2.8
DA* 300/4
FA* 80-200/2.8
FA* 28-70/2.8.

And I think it would be a good idea to post the link to your store in your signature. That way, I don't need to type it every time. Good luck with the business.

Edit: I forgot to mention those fine Zeiss ZK lenses as well. I'm quite surprised to see no one brought them up. People usually don't buy these because of their high price tag and manual focus, but for renting, they have undeniable temptation of Zeiss goodness . I always want to see how my Pentax * primes fare against those Zeiss optics. I know in this forums there are more than a few Voigtlander and Zeiss fans.
