Well the coating did change over the years, so making it new with HD coating is just logical.

I Doubt that HD coatings could improve upon the already excellent flare resistance of the FA31:

Pentax K5IIs - SMCP-FA31mm f/1.8 ASPH Limited.

I had to lower the contrast in this image substantially to get the look I wanted.

I've searched a bit for the source, but cannot find it. It could be that I misremember. It could also be that this came up in a Hirakawa Jun-related discussion and as such don't actually relate to the 31, but the other two FA limiteds. I'm pretty sure I didn't just imagine the whole thing.

Any update to the old film Fa's should be met with euphoria.

1 it means they won't be canceled
2 it means FF is approaching
3 any FA limited updated lens will exist in the new lens line up.

ergo any lens not being updated ta ta , goodbye see ya.
