Since weight matters to you this much I think your choice is made.

Enjoy getting to know the FA31 - it's a very unique lens. Hopefully it will give you the results you want.

I have the 35 Macro and while the long focus throw takes a second or so from 1:1 @ 2" to Infinity, who cares? In a hurry, I use the Quick Shift manual. But it is extremely rare for me to move from a bug portrait to a landscape.
