By the way, a camera store next to my office focused on (no pun intended) used equipment has those 2:
- DA 21mm 3.2 AL Limited
- FA 50mm 1.4

...both in mint condition, for a price of 378€ together.

I think on my way home I will have my own 2 lens set to start from

Awesome deal, it's the price of a used DA 21 only!

About the 3-primes kit, it would be DA 15, DA 21 and FA 43, I don't need anything longer.

It helps for sure, and that's why you see a lot of people going with the Limited lenses.

K35/3.5
M85/2
Sigma 180/3.5 macro

The two manuals are light and compensating for the heavy macro.

Incredibly mine is the same selection

A fourth would be the DA15 Ltd, a fifth would be the DFA-WR100 Macro

Just three lenses... that's kinda how I work when running light, I can cover most situations happily.

Choices are easy in my mind, my "Good Lady", my "Special Lady" and "Lady Luck"

That translated for those that don't know me is SMC Pentax-A 20mm F2.8, SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2 and SMC Pentax-A* 135mm F1.8.

I have so many three lens kits.
It depends on the day.

That's the good about Japan:
  1. they really take care of their stuff, meaning you get 2nd hand gear in great condition
  2. the Japanese Yen is incredibly weak at the moment (again), which makes shopping with a European credit card a pleasure

Sigma 30 1.4
Pentax FA 43
Pentax FA 77
These are my three choices from among the lens I currently own. However, I would need something wider to replace the zooms at the lower end. I have been relying on Pentax 10-17 fisheye.

I'm lucky enough to already own the perfect (and popular it seems) 3 lens combo:
DA15
FA31
FA77

On my film camera the FA31, FA43 and FA77 are very nice too. Combine that with a MZ-S, Ektar100 and stir
Agree entirely.

From what I possess (not a very rarified bunch of stuff):

DA21
FA50/1.7 (or M50/1.4 now that I have bought a secondhand K30 with focus peaking)
DA70 (but really tempting to make it the M100/2.8 or M150/3.5 instead)

If I were allowed four, it might well be the DA15 and the M28/3.5 instead of the DA21.

If I were rich, I would be tempted to buy the FA31, but it's a bit big ...

I have these three and would agree....however I would miss my DA 21 the most and would sneek a DA40 in my jeans coin pocket......

Here's a reference to several classic sets of focal lengths for street photographers. These of course are for film cameras and you'll need to convert for APSc. Scroll down to section 2.
