I might not have figured it out on paper, but I found in actual usage this is what I'd do. For example, I would pack my F*300, FA135, FA*85, and FA*24. I'd put my F*300 on one camera, the FA*85 on the other, and swap in the FA*24 if I needed something wide. That was all I needed for the day.
But if I had to pack
really light I could (mostly) get away with only my FA135 and FA*24. FA31 just isn't wide enough sometimes, while FA*24 is both wider
and fast. It's hard to explain exactly how this works out (not having other focal lengths), but somehow it does. But I'm certain that the quality and character of the lenses is a key factor which makes up for the lack of zoom.
