FA*24
FA 43
FA 135

I am looking for a FA*85 as I find the FA135 a bit long on aps-c for portrait.

Nice set! I wouldn't mind an updated d-fa 24 in the future.

I find that 135 on aps-c works well for `reluctant' subjects, as my daughter is apt to be these days. It is easier to catch her unawares...

Pick any three full frame primes - ultrawide, normal and telephoto
Now you just need three *bodies* - full frame, APS-C and Q - and you can do pretty much anything.

24/55/100 would work pretty well

DA 21 Ltd - DA 35 Ltd - DFA 100 Macro WR

Although the jump from 35 to 100 is large, i find this combo to cover most of my general purpose needs.
If i win the lottery and buy an FF camera in the future i'd switch to:

XR RIkenon 28 f2.8 - DFA 50 f2.8 Macro - DFA 100 Macro WR

So.... I'm getting the feeling people really like the fa*24?

For me it's a perfect fit with the fa 43 ltd. They take different photos but share a similar "feel" in the images. It's a nice combo.

I really love mine, very similar to the FA43 in that they are both sharp as anything wide open (the 24 has a bit more contrast though). They can both have busy bokeh which I don't mind too much, makes it more of an impression rather than abstract, you see more of the surroundings.

So right now I'm thinking about parting with some stuff I have, and moving to basically a 3-prime setup that I can carry everywhere:

. DA 21mm Limited (prices seem to have come down and it's affordable now)
. DA 35mm f2.4 (already have that one, love it)
. DA 50mm f1.8 (at the current prices of about 100 dollars new, it's a complete no-brainer)

I might carry my Takumar Bayonet 135mm f2.8 with me if I'm outside and might need something longer. It's light enough... but most of the time I think I'd just carry these 3.
My plans just changed to DA 21 + DA 35 + F 50 1.7 (instead of DA 50 1.8). Just ordered the F 50 so now I just need to save up for the DA 21 and I'll be set

I'm thinking FA or F 28 2.8 instead of 21, thoughts?

Nice set; should have you covered pretty good IMHO. I personally rarely wish for wider than my 21, but I do use my 77 and 135. I could do, say, 75% of my photography between 21mm and 50mm, and 90% between 21mm and 77mm--but I would hate to give up anything above 77mm.

So if "3 prime kit" means "what's in your bag to cover your most common photographic needs", then I could (and do) go with 21-31-77 (with 43/50 regretfully getting left out). Oh, also I want to replace the 105/2.8 Sigma macro I sold last year... So yeah, I can't live with only three primes, but I can happily get by with three on most days.

21-31-77 would be a killer setup, absolutely!

I can't live with just 3 either, but on most days, I go out with just 2-3 lenses... it seems like it's a contradiction but it's not

I've enjoyed walking around every now and again with the Samyang 24mm f1.4, plus the FA77 ready to deploy for closeups.

I just got the K28 f3.5 the other day from our sponsors B&H and it'd make that setup lighter.

DA 15, 35, 70. I have none of these, so, yeah, total mind game for me at this point. I do have the DA 40 limited - real nice. I think I could do with that instead of the 35.

If sports and birding is your thing then I suppose the 200mm, 300mm and 500mm would be your choices...

If I had to pick I think the Da35 ltd is a bit more versatile than the 40 cuz it has macro capabilities but both are very good.

ALT2 -> 35 • 55 • 85

Because I have them -> 31 • 43 • 77
Because I have them -> (K24/2.8) K28/3.5 • K50/1.4 • K105/2.8
Because I have them -> K35/3.5 • K55/1.8 • K85/1.8

etc.

I like this list!

Mine would be:

All Ltd: 31/43/77
Only the essentials: FA20/FA43/DFA100Macro
Bare essentials: K28/3.5, K55/1.8, M50/4 Macro
All star: 15/31/77
Beauty kit: 31/DA55/77

I can make a few more combinations out of my stash

Like those kits!

I'll add another, this is my "night/low light" K Series kit:

K28/2
K50/1.2
K85/1.8

Phil.
I like this kit too Phil.

Unfortunately, that 28/2 is as scarce as a hen's tooth. And that 85/1.8 now costs an arm and a leg!

Well, at least I have that K50/1.2
