Weird night behavior of pentax-a 50/1.7?

Hi,

I noticed some strange irregularities in pictures which were taken with pentax-a 50/1.7. I was thinking maybe this is something that goes with this vintage lens.
Is this normal and what's the proper name for this issue (flares?)?

Thank you!

It's some internal reflection. Nothing to worry about.

If you're talking about the greenish thingy in the sky, to me it looks like plain old lens flare

Wow, really fast answers!
Yup, I'm talking about that greenish thingy in the sky. So, there's no way to avoid this kind of flare with vintage lenses like this one?

Even with a modern lens you'll get some flare, maybe only to a lesser extent. It probably comes from the street lights. The only real way to avoid it is to recompose your shot trying to keep direct light away from shining on your lens

Or try to put a simple lens hood, it might get rid of some.

Modern coatings are much better than older ones, so you'll see more ghosts and flare when using older lenses. Your best defense is a lens hood and adjusting the angle of the shot.

Are you by any chance using a protective filter like UV? If you are, try it without, it may be the reflections from the filter.

My 50/1.7 does the same thing. Try bright stars, or better yet, the Moon to reveal further flare. Bothersome to be sure.
