At $499.00, this may be a good alternative to the FA 31 mm but ... I'm keeping my FA !

Let's hope this means the 18-35 is on the immediate horizon!

Still, this lens is intriguing. I can't wait to see the reviews on this one!

I'm looking at flickr for samples of this lens... and also FA 31mm and Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art...

The latter two (Sigma 35 Art and Pentax FA 31) I think are different but I can't say which one is better... they both seem to have "pixie dust"...

But this 30mm, I don't know... I don't see any reason to get it over the Sigma 28mm f/1.8. I kinda like the 28 better... that one has "pixie hints" here and there... and it's FF and cheaper.

Of course the fact that this 30 is available for Pentax is a good sign, and I hope it sells well so Sigma will release more lenses in PK mount. I just can't seem to build up LBA for it.

Dearly tempted. I just picked up a HD DA70 Limited and need a wider prime for a two-lens street combo. I do have a DA 35mm F/2.4, but so far I've often wound up finding that just a tad too narrow. Nice and light though, with wonderful image quality. I've got some MF 28s and a Sigma Superwide II 24mm F/2.8 (which I really like), but MF for street - I'm just not fast enough. If money was no object, I'd have ordered the Sigma 30mm as soon as I found out it was available in Canada last week, but my wallet is still in shock over the DA70 purchase. I'm also thinking about getting the AF version of the 24mm Sigma instead, but that F/1.4 is pretty attractive...

I'm torn between this lens and the 35mm 1.4 art.

While the 35mm is an epic lens, it's a bit longer than what I would like for APS-C, far bigger when mated to a pentax, and $400 more expensive.

The 30mm 1.4 Art is an improvement over the older model, but can't touch the IQ of the 35mm, but cheaper and smaller.

The 35mm is FF, but the 30mm covers the FF circle as well.
