Welcome to Pentax. You will soon learn we are a big fan of prime lenses here. I've no doubt you will be soon too.
I have in the past but as I have gotten older have gone to less in my bag At 75 I just do not need all the primes I find a good camera body and good technique
can work wonders with any lens. I thins that I am going with the Sigma 17-50 to start and see whe I decide to do from there. I really appreciate everyone's input
and hope to enjoy this form. If somebody who reads this has a 60-250 for sale let me know I guess I would love to buy one but used
Thanks Jim

Sigma 8-16
Sigma 18-35/1.8 or Tamron 17-50/2.8
Pentax 50-135, Sigma 100-300/4, Sigma 70-200/2.8 or Tamron 70-200/2.8

The K-3 has too much resolution for run of the mill zoom lenses to not show problems.

Put a keyword 60-250 in the Marketplace and you'll get emails telling you when they're up for sale. It's not a petite lens, though....

Yeah / Nah (and why)

I know about the deals and I am not sure I want the battery grip or the 50mm lens
Personally I use my 50 more than the battery grip. I only use my battery grip for my long Sigma lenses when I wish to use OS rather than SR.

I think I will start with the kit with the 18-135 and go from there as it is a great walk around lens from what I heard
For years I believed the DA 18-135 was optically a sub-par lenses, and for years I was very mistaken. A very versatile lens that gives one a complete WR set-up.

Just to clarify my recommendation on the Sigma 8 - 16. A very good renticular lens that would fit the gap below 16mm.
Personally I have gone for the DA 12-24 since I will be using it primarily at 12 - 20ish in a shooting session and I want to avoid having to change lenses. (And basically being a Pentax lens it can correct things in camera which allows me to be lazy, use the jpegs, and get away not doing PP on Raw files )
