anyone have photos of the 35mm macro on a kX00d?

hi folks,

i'm waffling here. i was all set to plunk down ~$1200 ::shudder:: on the 21/40/70 prime combination until the 35mm macro was released. now, i'm considering swapping the 40 for the 35mm and spending ::shudder:: another $300 or so.

i like the focal length of the 35mm better and the ability for it to do macro in a pinch.

the only thing i'm thinking about is how compact the 35mm is. does anyone have a photo of it on a kx00d?* or, can anyone at least share their experiences with with respect to handling? the whole point of buying into this setup of primes is portability and the ability to be discrete while shooting. i'd hate to spend hundreds of dollars and not get that ...

thanks!

* thanks to heather, i've seen some photos of it on the k20d. i was surprised how long it looked, at least given how most of the limited lens are so pancake-ish.

ld-

If you like the length of the 35, but think that the DA35 (7.6 oz, 1.8" L) would be too big for you, then you might want to check out the FA35/2. While it doesn't have the macro capability, it is smaller (6.9oz, 1.8" L) and lot cheaper (around $299 new).

See what the 35/2 can do:

Another combination that a lot of people go with is the 21/43/70. I'm leaning in that direction, as well as I already have the 43 (5.5oz., 1.1" L)--the smallest of the 3. The 43 considered one of the best lenses in terms of IQ in the Pentax line (better than the 40) and runs in the neighborhood of $50 or so cheaper than the DA35. While you can't get really close up with it (18" minimum focusing distance, you can use it with extension tubes and get pretty decent results like this:

Check out the rest of my closeups and macros taken with the 43:

i see no reason for a 35mm macro lens.. you'll practically be touching your subject.. most macro shooters prefer a 100mm or better..

i'm kinda unsure about the 40mm, seems like a great lens, but not sure what i'd do with that focal length

here's a photo on a K20D
