1 lens limit, which do you choose?

OK, you've won a 10 day dream vacation and one of the weird and wacky rules for getting the free vacation is you may only take one camera body/lens. Obviously you'll take your Pentax body but what is the one lens you'll take for it? The trip will include tons of landscape opportunities, lots of portrait opportunities, all sorts of candid opportunities at all sorts of distances, pretty much anything you can think of so what one lens will it be?

One lens to do it all: FA 31LTD. Your landscape is not "wide" enough, do a stitch shot. Portrait with 31LTD can go from whole body to close head shot. And this lens has magic in it too.

I'll cast another vote for the 31mm Limited. As Goldilocks said, "Just right." Or if you follow the crop ratio, 31mm is the new 50mm.

I'd contact the trip planners, and tell them I'm a pro photographer, and convince them that I can give them several incredible promotional photographs if they allow me to take along my full kit

If that didn't work probably my K-mount 55mm f1.8. It might not be the best for anything, but it works for almost everything

VL125 for holidays. Good general purpose tele length, I can creep-up a little on the Pelicans, stand-back a little for the wife and get a nice portrait of the lizard on the bathroom wall @ 1:1. Still a good enough field of view to get some good vistas, splice if I must as well, as Hiep has said.

Of course, when the 60-250 comes out, it'll be my first zoom and might be a good solution, if a little large.

Kit lens for me. Lightest and most versatile of the bunch, and in case something bad happens to it, I wouldn't rip my own head off.

I don't own one due to its size/weight, but if there's a 1-lens limit I will put up with that and take the DA*50-135.

Pentax DA* 16-50 f2.8 lens.

Pentax DA* 16-50 f2.8 lens. Will get me most of what I need for most shooting situations.

didn't we just have this thread? Desert Island, or something like that.

Sigma 28/1.8 or possibly the new 35 macro for me... both are just about normal lenses, with macro capability

Yup..and on the K20D like the 21 Ltd, it is like a totally new lens. I will send my K10D in to Pentax for the Model Revision 8.1. Hopefully that will resolve the focussing problems.

I'd probably go out and buy one of the super zooms. Tamron 18-200 or some such. Then after the vacation sell it. Either that or smuggle the Pentax FA 20-35, A 35-105, and the A 70-210. Now that would be a more realistic travel kit.
