16-50 test, tell me if i should send her in !

So I got my 16-50 in today, buydig ships faster than beachcamera and their prices are lower, whats up with that ?

anyway, i would love the input from you guys since everyone here is either nice or harsh, you guys usually tell the truth-- so tell me if this guy is a keeper, and should its serial go with a good tagging instead of bad...

so nevermind that im not using newspaper, or a test chart or a tripod, these are just random shots in and outside the house and one cropped.

thanks in advance guys
-Nino

I like the results. I'd say keep it. Of course, I've never owned a DA*16-50, so others may have other things to say.

photos look good to me, but you might want to do some brick wall tests at different focal lengths and apertures just to check

The toy and vase look great. Your third shot, that's some weirdo bokeh in the upper left corner. But, based on the first two, it's a keeper.

Those are your photos? The one shot in the mall, the low angle focused on the lilies with the oof lit trees in the background. I got the same donut shaped highlight bokeh too, and thought it is a flaw. Guess not. I suppose if I want to avoid rings, keep away from high contrast subjects.

Sent in for service, but...

... not for focus problems. The weather seal came out! I was really liking that lens, too.

Looks like a keeper to me! Looks sharp all accross. Got mine for 3 months now, still not convinced I should keep it. It's a bit soft on the left side.
Note however that you can't really expect as nice a bokeh as on a good prime, especially with a highly (over?)corrected zoom like this one.

-my son matthew- i think the shallow DOF adds to the 16mm distortion yes?
16mm @ f2.8

-ugly plant, good image-
50mm @ f2.8 focal point - center

thanks for your opinions guys and gals!

Nino, those shots are great! I also am seeing incredible sharpness wide open at 16mm - something I didn't expect.
