Couldn't have said it better. This lens, and its sister the DA40, make me want to buy the DA70 even though I don't need it It's not a good lens for portraits, but for city, landscapes, close focusing, night shots, it's fantastic.

Actually, it's not even a bad portrait lens if you want some context....

Sandy, those shots moved this lens from "want" to "must-have" category. It's on my "roadmap" now I already knew it was perfect for landscapes, but those portraits, wow. What a flexible lens. Perfect skin tone, too.

It is suitable for environmental portraits because it is wide, but not too wide where you are an inch from your subjects which makes their noses look huge, lol

The 21 is one of those remarkable lenses that tend to produce very fine photos for me, even though it perhaps shouldn't - the numbers are not all that impressive. I team it with a 35mm for walkaround kit when I travel.

Indeed, it's a good lens for portrait with a contet, but not really suited for studio work, sadly, it's quite contrasty and does deform a bit.

Indeed, I'm thinking even a 21-35-55-135 is a setup I could walk around with and wouldn't be heavy or take a lot of space in a trip. I already have the latter 3

My compact kit is made of the 2, 40 and 100 macro WR. I had a 50 but prefer the fl of the 40. I don't really mind the gap though I'd love to own the 70 of course.
