Wow, this was a negative bunch tonight.
Why wouldn't Canon users also want to use old classic nice glass with a nice manual focus feel? They even get to use the lens in the format they were made for!
Why would any Pentax user then pay more to get old lenses than for example DA 50/1.8?
I use my taks on the format and camera they were intended for (Spotmatics), I don't use them on my K mount film cameras because using the adapters is a pain and native K mount lenses are plentiful and generally not expensive (and are at least as good - probably better optically). Although I use manual focus glass on AF cameras, I'd rather use AF glass if I have it.

The DA50/1.8 wouldn't work for me as it wouldn't work with my manual film cameras - so I had to get an FA50/1.4 instead.

Some people like to adapt the FA31 because of its unique characteristics, but it's relatively expensive compared to older m42 lenses. But few lenses have such a smooth transition to OOF, so it's desirable.

I'd be all over the Canon 135/2 myself.

As I noted in another thread, this lens is world class. Accuracy, handling, optics, weight, and price are all on the right side of things. There are a lot out there on the used market.

This list might have wrong info regarding compability lenses on 5d.
I have many that fit fine, without any issues, on 5D or 5Dm2.

While that list is considered authoritative, I would really appreciate knowing what M42 lenses you have that work well with a Canon FF body.
Thanks.

Here are my m42 lenses that fit 5D/5Dm2. I am using m42 with EMF chip.

Soligor 135f2.8 (2 copies: T2/4 and m42)
Isco Westron 35f3.5
Pentacon 135f2.8 auto
Pentacon 135f2.8 preset
Soligor 105f2.8 T2/4 + m42 adapter
Super Tak 85f1.9
Smc Tak 85f1.8
Smc Tak 100f4 macro
Smc Tak 105 f2.8
Smc Tak 120f2.8
Smc Tak 135f3.5
Smc Tak 135f2.5 v2
Smc Tak 300f4
Vivitar 135f2.8 m42
Vivitar 200f3.5 m42
Yashinon Tomioka 55f1.2
Industar-50-2
Mamiya Sekor 28f2.8 with M/A switch, m42

Fujinon EBC m42 do not have M/A switch. They have a tab sticking out too. I cut the tab, and modified to manual.
Mamiya Sekor auto lenses do not have A/M switch and they too need to modify.
It's relatively simple to look if the lens cause hit mirror or not by looking at the lens at infinity, mounted on EF adapter.

Hope this helps
