Yeah, with 50mm lenses rendering is what counts. They are all sharp enough - it the colours, contrast, bokeh, highlights, flare, size/weight that can be drastically different. I find the Industar 50-2 f3.5 to be sharp enough for most needs, at least in the centre (I admit its edge performance is.. well, there is no edge performance)

My helios is LEGENDARY at f5.6. Just stunning. Every other 50 I have is just as good, though! I think I love my helios the most, but my Super Tak 50 8-Element may be even better (still warming up to it).

I have to agree that my Helios 44M at center is pretty hard to beat for sharpness and contrast at moderate apertures. It also has pixie dust.*
