Congratulations! You just bought some of the best glass you can put on a K mount.
It's my favorite lens.

I notice you have some esoteric and high quality glass in your sig there - this is going to fit
in very nicely!

Here's some 'lens porn' to tide you over

Think I've seen them go as high as $375 for mint new-old-stock, so he got a bit of a bargain even.

Yeah, but when was that? The prices of these lenses have skyrocketed recently ( I bought my Komine made Vivitar 55mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 a year ago for $60USD mint, not you can get it for around $150USD if you can find one.

Thanks for the image it makes me drool

BTW I noticed in your sig that you have the Vivitar 28 2.8 Close Focus. Have you compared this one to other 28mm lenses?
I have compared a few other lenses to my Tokina RMC 28mm f/2.8 and nothing could beat it (including the SMC Takumar 28mm 3.5).

Cheers,

Voe

You know your stuff. Yeah, I compared it to the SMC-M 28, a Tamron 28, and one other, I forget the brand. It was better than all of them. No idea how it compares to the Tokina, though.

Mine's made by Komine, and I really like it (it's survived several sales - just can't let it go

Here are a couple shots I have handy:

Happy happy day!

Congrats on your new Vivi Series 1... you got it at the perfect time.

I love mine... I have had it a couple of months and it is my favorite lens to play around with. The only other lens fighting for time right now is my tamron 28-75...
And the bug and blooms are bursting out right now

Oh my, the Viv 28/2.8 close focus shot these?! I have one lying around, not seeing much use (it belonged to my dad). I almost, ALMOST, gave it away last week in exchange for a camera strap worth $9! Good thing I saw your post Jay, I was on the verge of letting it go cheap (you know why...).

Woah, nice shots all. For the price, its clear these lenses are a bargain. I have a question though, how is the build quality/feel of these guys? I only ask because I've recently filled the focal ranges in question here and don't carry extra glass - but if they felt as good as they looked, I could justify those prices as 'back-up' or something, hehe.

@Jsherman999 - can you tell me the minimum object distance on that 28? I'd like to stack it up against the Zeiss 25 when mine gets back, your samples look high quality!
