Hi,

anybody there has ever seen one of these lens sold in Europe? I can find some in e-shops in USA, but none in Europe, new nor used ones.

Basically I'm looking for a nice lens in that range, even manual focus, as my Sigma 70-300 is .... "ok", but at the long end.. well... seen better ones.

This 100-400 had good comments and the cost is reasonable, so...

Any suggestion/ideas?

Many thanks!

Sthan.

cosina 100-400

I think that in Europe is easier to find it as cosina 100-400.

I think they're the same lens. Foto Walser (on ebay) has some Cosina lenses from time to time.

I used one to determine if i wanted to go birding. sold it after a month of use. best used at f8, around 300mm. i wouldn't recommend it unless you can't afford anything else.

NEW 100-400mm F4.5 AF AUTOFOCUS TELE ZOOM LENS PENTAX on eBay, also Pentax, 35mm SLR, Film Cameras, Cameras Photo (end time 05-May-08 01:57:07 BST)

Thanks guys, in the meanwhile I found (and bought) one (the Cosina, which comes with the lens hood). Ok it's not a GREAT lens, but sharpness is not too bad and especially the general colour impression is very good (sorry for the word choice, I'm pretty sure it doesn't explain the point. To make an example, I also own a Sigma 70-300 non-APO, and even if sharpness could be comparable, the colours definetely don't... the Sigma looks kind of "artificial", don't know how to explain it better...)
This is a rose taken at 210mm with the Cosina F 5,6 ISO 100 1/1000.
