My first Limited is on the way!

I did not really need a new lens, but saw this DA40 pop up used for a good price so I pulled the trigger on it. I'm very curious to how it will work for me, especially in the handling department. Optically, I'm not worried about it

What worries me more is whether it will spark the limited addiction

Congrats!
If the Da 40mm XS didn't come with my K-01, I'd have the DA 40mm Ltd as well. The XS works great for me, I just wish it had a slick, unobtrusive hood like the Ltd.
Anyway, with the same optics as my XS, and the body of a Ltd, you will not be disappointed. Good luck and don't forget to share some sample pics

Congrats. The DA 40 is an amazing lens. I don't own it anymore because I have the FA 43. But in my experience it renders people wonderfully. It definitely generates compliments.

Congrats indeed!
I got a 40 ltd for a present about 3 months ago, my first and only limited lens. I am still blown away by the image quality, its rendering is beautifully sublime. I'm not technologically savvy enough to explain why, I can simply say produces fantastic images.
I, too, was a bit pensive about the handling, but that turned out to be perfectly ok. There's not much to hold on to, but it seems not to be a problem. Probably different to what you might be used to, but hardly problematic. The limited addiction on the other hand might not be so easily dealt with...

I think you already answered that question
when you called the DA 40 your "first" limited!

Ah, yes, it's easy to get hooked on this tiny gems. But they are worth it, so small you can always bring them no matter what, beautiful rendering, and wonderful to handle.

"Need"? Well, no, I can get by with only the 18-135. Or a point-and-shoot, for that matter. But I do need the Limiteds

Congratulations, and enjoy!

Congrats and enjoy! I bought mt DA 40 Limited much the same way. I saw it for a very good price and bought it. I don't use it a whole lot but it's my go to lens for parties and events whether indoors or out.

No need to worry. You are already there... It is just a matter of time before you realize you can't live without the next one...

I agree. I fought it for a couple of years before I succumbed to the fact that one Limited wasn't enough. I am now at 3.5 and counting (the 0.5 is the DFA100 Macro WR, which, in my mind, is effectively another limited).

Gah it's terrible having to wait for the package to arrive. In the NL you can trace your package via an app that will even send push messages whenever there is a status change (picked up, sorting, en route etcetera). I never looked so much at my phone as today

As far as collecting limiteds, the 31 and 77 are on my list since a few years already, I just can't justify the purchase while I still am a student. We'll see next year when I finish though

Just two years ago I had a 10-20, a DA* 16-50, a 70-200/2.8 and the 100mm WR . Why would you want fixed lenses when you covered all the focal lengths with a few zooms? My K-01 - bought in late December 2012 a actually got me thinking differently. Got a 21mm in January. Look at my lenses now just over a year later... Only ones left is the 100 WR and my DA* 300mm...

What would we do without the marketplace....

Do you miss the zooms at all? I'm not at a point where I would be comfortable not having them as an option. Maybe I haven't had my limited kit long enough yet.
