can someone explain me the market for the Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Standard Auto Focus Lens?

I dont get it, Adorama and B&H seem to have them for less than $200 YET, I find them on ebay for $225+ and even here people sell them used for $190 + shipping.

am I missing something? Are there different releases or versions?

I think I am talking about this lens:

I originally wanted the A-1.4 but cant find at a good deal, so i'll go for the FA. So while shopping for it i noticed the price discrepancy seems big...

The U.S. Dollar is very weak. Those ebay auctions aren't aimed at the United States. This also expains a lot of inflated prices on ebay in general. . .at least if you're an American. If you live in the World at large, it is a good time for shopping -- as 25 dollars over the domestic U.S. price is still cheaper than the typical price in some other countries.

Someone from Europe could confirm. Isn't the FA 50mm around 300 dollars in Europe new?

... and to answer the original question; AFAIK there is only one version of the FA 50/1.4.

If I wasn't being given a Manual version I'd ask my local store to order me on in at $190 instantly.

Shoot, I still might. That's a great price for a great lens
