Its a bit expensive. Hopefully its in mint condition. But at that price, I would buy a DA 50mm f1.8 instead (cost almost the same, faster AF, rounded aperture blades, probably has more modern lens coatings, comes with warranty. Main downside is lack of aperture ring) or a FA 50mm f1.4 (still new, doesn't cost too much more, still has aperture ring).

The F50/1.7 is a good lens.

In my experience, you have about a 1 in 3 chance of getting an unsatisfactory lens on eBay. On the forum Marketplace here, you have less than a 1 in 10 chance of getting one you don't like - and even if you do, the seller is nearly always cooperative in taking it back.

Here are example photos from both the F50/1.7 and the DA50/1.8. You can decide if one suits you better:

F 50 f/1.7 is an excellent lens but except for the aperture ring the DA 50 f/1.8 is a better buy at that price. As noted above, modern coatings etc. and you can buy new for less money than taking a chance on an ebay lens. Prior to the release of the DA 50mm I would have said go for the F version no question but now it just makes no sense to get the older one, unless you need the aperture ring.

It is a great lens, but the AF is a little loud. I got mine for 95 dollars attached to an SF-1, with a Hoya 35 f/2.8, an F28-80, and an F-70-210 and in a Pelican case, so I can't comment on price.

I've owned two and still own one of them. I wouldn't buy one used for more than $150.

The lens is a FF design which means the soft corners are cropped when using it on an APS sized sensor. My copy produces very sharp images!

$180 is a bit steep unless it is literally in New-Old-Stock condition with zero dust inside, original packaging, front/rear caps, etc. Mine came in a package from KEH which included a SF10 body, a SF1 body, and a FA 28-105mm lens. Everything was in used condition and showed signs of use but the optics were in mint condition.
