Tamron front filter ring loose??

I have a Tamron 17-55mm f2.8 and where you mount the filter and hood system is a little loose and I'm just wondering if this is normal for this lens? I got it used a while ago and love it. Also does anyone know if the original owner did not register the lens at Tamron I could do it and use the warranty because the person I bought it off of sent me all the paper work and prof of purchase so I just don't know??

This is not unusual for that lens - mine was loose and rattled for years before I got around to fixing it. All that is required is prying the "beauty ring" loose, tightening three screws, then re-applying the beauty ring.
