The question should be : have you ever been dissatisfied with the FA31? Or is there a lens out there that can beat it in the 30ish range? I bought one in a bundle with the intent of selling it, and I ended up selling a K-5, a F70-210 and a F50 In order to keep the 31.

I think I'd buy the FA31, sell the 35 and put that money in my secret photography stash. I don't know if it's something that interests you, but if Pentax ever comes out with a FF camera, you'd have a great jump on things by owning the 31, 50, and 77.

I too would get the 31mm...but I have never owned it and probably never will now that I have the 43mm LTD.
But my reasoning is that I had the original X100 and it was just too quirky. The photos it can produce are top notch and that Fuji lens takes a back seat to no other. I just could not get used to the interface, and how un-intuitive it was.

Also, I am not a big fan of fixed FL, fixed lens cameras in general. A lot of people are, and I understand why...I just am not.

I'd get a DA15ltd.
You seem to lack a UWA atm and the DA15ltm is an amazing one (esp. for the size)

I wouldn't get FA31ltd nor the X100S.

FA31ltd, while a fantastic lens, a lot of this is wasted on aps-c (because a lot of the cost is for a wide angle lens than is fast, small (for a f1.8 FF WA), nice bokeh (again not easy for a FF WA) )
If you can afford it and like the rendering so much even on aps-c, then sure, just get it, otherwise, I'd suggest using the money elsewhere.

X100S, camera body prices drop fast. In a year, they will be $300 2nd hand.
There are lots of pretty good small cameras out there (for a back up camera) for less nowadays than the X100S. (a DP1m perhpas, even the GXR or the NEX with one lens)
To have something over my DSLR, I'd rather get the Q7 (super macro, extreme tele, compact/non-serious fun, small)
Don't forget the GR too (fast response, 28mm with a 21mm GW3 option and a 35mm crop mode; very good o/p too from the 16mp non-AA filter sensor)

Else, just save the money for the next better Pentax DSLR.

Ok so I see in the OP's profile that he has a Ricoh GR. So why another single-lens camera?

Personally, I'd get FA*24 (or DA 21) + FA 135 as someone mentioned earlier in the thread. But if you gotta have that 31 pixie dust, you gotta have it... I'd love to try one someday.

I'd get the Sigma 30/1.4 AND the 15mm (both used for <1000). Is the 31 better than the 30? I'd say in some ways yes, in some ways no. I've looked long and hard at samples, can't say I prefer one over the other, so I certainly prefer the Sigma and 15 together.

I'd take that lens over that camera, but would choose something else (wider) if I could.

If you want to turn the camera into a smallish P&S rangefinderish camera for close street work, isn't the DA21mm a strong contender? Pancake, great quality, wide but not UWA FOV....

Get that and a longer pancake like the 40 or 70 and you won't need a bag.

As above... I'd go for the 21.... unless you're one of those people planning to get an 35x24 sensor should Pentax release one. Remember 21mm on 24x16 is roughly the same as 31 on 35x24, and it you could add a 15 to that... you would be so laughing... those plus a 55-300 and you're set for life.
