DA 35 Ltd - First Shots

Wow, do I ever like this lens! Sharp, very accurate and the build quality as well is fantastic.

Here are some macro shots I took while out for a walk with the family. I hope you enjoy.

All are hand held, resized and no cropping.

I've bought it too. I like it's macro ability.
It is very similar to FA 77 in size and construction. Here some firest shots.

Very nice indeed. This should prove to be a popular lens. I do have one question regarding the first photo of the bridge. There is a yellow warning sign on the right side of the bridge. Does this indicate that one is to beware of people falling from the sky?

Enjoy the lens - Gary

I think it's actually a warning to look up in order to avoid falling matter from the bird on top of the next post along....

Nice shots both posters - looks like a great lens.

Not sure if this brief but excellent review has been posted yet:

bokeh resembles nothing so much as that from an old Leica Summarit
Well, sweet.

Do you guys keep a filter on yours all the time? I tried to, but apparently, the cap doesn't stay on if there's filter on and the hood is still inside.

To be sure the cap stays on I pulled out the lens hood, used one hand to hold it and one hand to push the cap on, then pushed the hood back as far as it would go.

Having said that, I don't think the lens is in any danger without a filter, its recessed and has a small surface. 2 days without one so far.

Not sure why Pentax made a lens cap like this, why change something that has been working for decades. The M 135 for example has a built-in lens hood too but, it also has the standard 'spring latch' type cap. Its the only weakness I can find so far with the DA35 design.

Wow, what a lens! I was on the fence about purchasing this lens, either the 35mm LTD or the 70mm LTD first. Well after seeing the shots above, I know for a fact I will be pulling the trigger tonight.
