Originally posted by hoopsontoast I am looking for a short telephoto prime to go with a K-01.
I have been recommended the Voigtlander 58mm f1.4, as well as the 90mm f3.5 APO too, and the two things that attract me to them is the quality of the bokeh I have seen from samples online and the build/size/weight.
The the other option is of course the DA70 f2.4 which sits between them in speed but of course is a lot smaller than both although from samples the bokeh seems to sometimes be a bit nervous, like my Sigma DP3M.
Manual focus is not an issue (focus peaking), and this lens will be used for landscape as well as portraits.
Voigtlander 58mm f1.4 (~85mm) [320g]
DA70 f2.4 (~105mm) [130g]
90mm f3.5 APO (~135mm) [320g]
I have ruled out the Sigma 85mm f1.4 due to size weight, and similarly the Samyang 85mm f1.4 although its a bit lighter. I previously had a sigma SD15 with the 20-40mm f2.8 and 28-70mm f2.8 being around 600g each was a bit too much so looking for a smaller/lighter setup.
FWIW, I have a DA14 f2.8 [Already relatively heavy] coming to go with the K-01 for the wide as well as a Sigma DP3M that I already have.
Cheers, Rob
As you don;t mind manual focus, have you considered anything from the russian Helios stable? I have the 44M, interesting swirly bokeh under the right conditions and very sharp, can be had for just a few pounds.
I recently bought a Pentax M135/3.5 for £30 on ebay, super light and compact with nice bokeh and sharp.
