buying tips for da* 16-50

Any tips for buying this lens assuming I might get a bad copy and have to exchange it?
How is B&H in this regard? Will i be paying for shipping to ship it back?
Can i find a shop that will test if for me before they send it???

Just ask B&H, and I imagine that they'll try helping you. Although I've never dealt with them, so I can't make any promises.

If you don't get the service you'd like try talking to Henry personally. I don't know what his last name is, however he's a member here. And has been really helpful in several posts

I do know that they'll be good with their after the sales service.

My camera guy tests all the lenses he ships out, and includes a couple of photos taken with it in the box.
I know that it wouldn't be a problem for him to e-mail you the samples first.

However he doesn't have any 16 - 50 lenses in stock at the moment, and since he's still a small store it would be a special order for him. You can count on 2 weeks, or possibly longer delivery period.

If there's no one else who'll offer you the same service, and you wish to contact him there's a link off my main page.
He's also the only stocking retailer of Sigma Camera bodies in Canada.
