Samyang 16 or old Sigma 10-20?

Please help me decide guys which to get. They're pretty close in terms of price. I have been reading reviews of both lens. From what ive read, Samyang give really sharp images even wide open and can compete with Pentax DA 15 Limited. For the Sigma 10-20, it also give great image quality and does have nice 10-20 FL.

Ill use this lens mainly for landscape. I dont care if its AF or Manual, compact or bulky, as long as it give the highest IQ possible for the price... Please help me decide guys..

Pretty sure basic physics would dictate that the Samyang would be superior. Not to say that the 10-20 isn't great, as I've seen some of those photos, but primes are almost always superior to zooms.

The bigger question is: Is 16mm wide enough to satisfy you?

Props to PF User Pop4 for having this image when I googled an example photo:

oh my, i got a bunch of 28mm, and based on this image, it isnt wide after all

ive seen a lot of DA15 images and it works well, i believe 15 and 16mm are pretty much the same.. Do you have the sigma 10-20 Sir? what can you say about the corners?

I would choose the 10-20 for versatility.

Just about every wide angle option for Pentax is very good. You really have to base your choice on things like size, flare resistance, and AF. I have the DA 15 and I find it a little wide sometimes for landscapes but it's sharp enough that cropping a little isn't an issue. The Sigma 10-20 has a very good reputation and would be a little more versatile than a prime. The DA 12-24 rivals a prime for IQ but it's big and also more expensive. I haven't seen too many Samyang shots or used one to give an opinion but their recent offerings have had good reviews. For myself, I would buy an AF lens as my eyesight isn't what it once was although a stopped down 16mm almost doesn't need focusing. I have mounted my DA 15 after using an MF lens and forgot to change my camera settings and had most of my shots come out and only discovered the camera wasn't focusing when I tried to get a close up shot. Senior moment.

I'd take the Samyang for the f/2 aperture. I believe it has higher IQ as well.

I'm not sure which version of the Sigma you're looking at.

Is the DA15 out of contention?

Da 15 too expensive even in used condition...whereas the sammy 16 is pretty afordable

---------- Post added 05-16-14 at 09:09 PM ----------

The old version of sigma 10-20 the one that is slow... Im pretty tempted to get the sigma actually, looking at the image above, 16mm and 18mm (kit) are pretty damn close considering the kit can provide a nibe quality images...

Thanks so far for the responses, i might get the sigma 10-20
