Dating a Pentax lens?

Hi, fellow Pentaxians,
I'd like to know when one of my lenses was manufactured. I just picked up a smc FA 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 for my K-500 (basically pristine condition for £25!) and one of my friends asked me if I knew when it was manufactured. This interested me also. Is there any definite way of telling when a lens was manufactured? The s/n is 5003914.
Thanks,
Toby

The Serial Number Database has 19 serials. Yours would be the second lowest number, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

They're pretty, don't get me wrong... If I was going to date any lens it would be a Pentax. But I'm going to stick with Mrs. ElJamoquio.

I'd wine and dine an FA 77, just for the remotest chance she'd end up with me.

But if my DA70 ever walked in the restaurant and saw us ...

Haha. You guys have me in stitches.
If I were to date any lens, I'd totally hook up with a DA* 55mm. Perfect lens for my photographic (and relationship) needs.
Joking aside, I just killed my own thread.

That's not so much a lens collection as a harem, Kerrowdown!
