Need help for lens hood

Hello everyone,
I'm watching a lot of photography tutorials (foe beginners) and many times came up the issue of lens hoods.
I have a K-50 and 2 lenses.The 18-55mm WR Kitand a SMC Pentax-DA 50mm f/1.8
I'm a bit of confused...
Do i need to buy hoods for both of my lenses?
What exactly hood should i buy? They say every lens must wear his own hood or you might see the shadow in your photos.

Here's the hood for your 18-55mm:

The 50mm can take any generic round rubber hood with the proper diameter, such at this one:

You don't need to buy lens hoods, but they are convenient.

You can always shade the lens with your hand, just like you do for your eyes.

For the 50 f1.8 I opted for a hard plastic hood such as this one

Here's another option you could try....print a hood!

For full frame and film lenses:
Free printable cardboard lens hoods

For crop sensor digital lenses:
Digital lens hoods

Print onto thin card, spray the inside matte black (you could do the outside too), fold and glue. Job done.

EDIT:

There is even a tutorial on how to make a lens hood in our own PF D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) forum here:
