Anyone switched from da 16-45 to da* 16-50?

Has anyone switched from the 16-45 to the 16-50? was it worth the extra money??? what kind of real world differences/improvements have you noticed in image quality?

IQ is close, marginally better on the DA*. The extra $$ is in the SDM, f/stop and weather sealing.

so If you could buy 1 da* lense and you already have the 50-135 and the 16-45 which one would you buy? I am debating between the da*16-50 and the da*300. If the 16-50 was a huge improvement over the 16-45 I would get it but from the lack of responses it doesnt seem as though it is

You get 1 stop, weather sealing and the SDM focus motor.

I had both and there was not enough difference, IMO, to justify the additional cost.

So, if you had the DA 16-45 and the DA* 50-135 and it is your desire to buy a * lens?

Go for the DA * 200 or the da* 300.

So you guys are saying the 16-45 is almost on-par, image-quality-wise with the *16-50? Are you SERIOUS??

Andrew, both these folks have or used to have either lens. I think that both of them are credible testaments to the quality of the 16-45.

I have a 16-45 and have been perfectly happy with it. I also have the DA*50-135.

The DA1645 is a great lens optically, it'd be pretty hard to find any other zoom lens which is better optically. You buy DA*1650 not just for the slight IQ improvement but for the SDM, weather sealing, and most of all, the F2.8 aperture. If you don't need any of these, just stay w/ the DA1645 and be happy w/ it.

So for those who have used the Sigma 17-70, how does that compare?
