I just picked an Auto Sears MC 300mm f5.6 and wanted to know if it is made by Tokina. It looks identical to the Tokina 300mm F5.6 RMC I see in the lens database. There is a small decal on the lens that say DHA if that means anything. I was going to add it to the misc. lens database since there is little info for the Sears 300mm Kmount version.
As far as the lens itself...I love it. Wide open you need perfect lighting to avoid CA, but at F16 there is little sign of it. I got it mainly for birds, wildlife, etc., so it was nice of a juvinile Perigrine Falcon (I think) to land on the wall 60ft away as I was doing test shots. The lizards were out too, soaking up the morning sun. The lens is light enough to hand hold and walk around with. I did a few test shots using my Pentax 2x-S A-converter, but I think I need a tripod to get any decent results with that combo. Can't wait to try it on my Q.
Oh, and all this fun only cost me $30
The lizzard is about a 50% crop with minimum lightroom processing. The falcon is just slightly cropped. These were both at F16 with my K-30
